I love to see House Of Leaves mentioned. It's my all time favourite novel, and one of the only books I have read twice. It's an absolute masterpiece, to say the least. I never considered a manga adaptation - that could be very interesting, if not incredibly difficult.

Junji Ito is a fascinating case, because his art style has stayed pretty much the same over the course of his career, but with each major work, the art itself noticeably improves. Most artists evolve their art style, but Junji Ito already had a style that worked incredibly well. There is one small panel in No Longer Human (chapter 2, page 68, second panel) that shows a character's disgusted expression, and it really stuck with me due to how visceral it is. That one small panel highlighted to me how far he was improved since Tomie.

i cant believe the japanese tried to make a dramatic story about spinning tops even as little kid i thought that was absurd .but i kept watching as it was the only cartoon on tv and to give it credit the artstyle and music was good and those toys were drawn like spaceships

In a way, this kinda burns my ass in a very timely fashion. This art and experimental nature feels like it inspired _Heavy Metal,_ and i love that. The psychadelic 60s stuff paved the way for things like Angel's Egg after all. But what I am talking about specifically is _Heavenly Delusion._ It deals with uncomfortable subject manner in a way that is not exploitative at all, but very much rooted in human anguish while maintaining hope. I am sad it got tossed by the wayside while *idiots* were watching Solo Leveling, but i found it a few days back and seriously appreciate it. You could say it's a low play at "representation," but i feel that art coming from ALL directions adds to our collective human culture. HD does that, and is really quite good for it.

Ive loved belladonna of sadnes for years, and knew of the trilogy all the while. On another note, It would help to actually state the materials of the content warning so people know what they're avoiding rather than a vague "there is messed up stuff ahead."
